It seems like BMW bets strong for the sportsmanship and what will be their new competition motorcycle for the 2009 super bikes championship.

The Initials “HP” come from “High Performance” and the 2 belongs to the number of cylinders of the Boxer motors.

The German engineers had been based on their predecessor the BMW R 1200 S but has 178kg of weigh and they have raise the motor benefits reaching now 130 CV.

The engine has suffer some changes respect with the BMW 1200 S. The breeches are made in carbon fiber and get triggered for a double tumbling shaft in head (DOHC) with independent seesaws like in the new K series that allow to place valves radially when using conical levies.

The six close relations gearbox counts on a working semiautomatic trigger like the used at the motorbike race that allows to trigger the lever without employ the clutch neither cut the gas and it disconnects automatically if the clutch gets triggered.

Cycle part: The Öhlins suspensions are completely adjustable at the front and back. Brakes count on system the disconnectable ABS and the front calipers are Brembo.

On this BMW the instrument board are similar to the MotoGP, Magura handlebars, adjustable aluminum foot pegs, double oil radiator…
