Yamaha intends returns to be a reference in children’s sports category. For that has created this small wonder and mounted a single-cylinder four-cycle motor. With camshaft in head liquid refrigerated with a 4-valve butt and fuel injection along with a 6-gear gearbox. The escape is inspired on its elder sister, the R6 with double catalyst and air induction to outgo the Euro3 environmental normative.

The chassis has grown, approximately to the size of the motorcycles of bigger cylinder capacity, that allows that the tall pilots not have size problems when they climb on top. The cowl is very similar to the R1 and R6, what it offers the possibility of mixing up with het elder sisters.

The cycle section is equipped with:
- Cast aluminum bascule and 33 mm front fork.
- 292 mm front brakes with pair of double piston caliper.
- Rear disco brake of 230 mm.

100/80 r17 pneumatic tires in front and 130/70 r17 at the back on tires of 10-radio aleation .
